We left our hotel at 8:45 to catch the train to Zermatt via Interlaken Ost, Spiez, Visp, which took about 3 hours!  Using the SBB app on my phone made it easy to plan & execute our trip, including the departure time, platform and seating arrangement.  Our hotel, Continental, was a 3 minute walk from the train station up Bahnhofstrasse, a lively avenue lined by sporting goods stores, restaurants and hotels made even livelier with the telltale signs of that morning’s marathon start!  Our rooms weren’t quite ready so we dropped our luggage at the hotel and went for a walk along Rick Steve’s recommended route through town, stopping for lunch and a tour of the Matterhorn Museum!  The museum brought the Matterhorn’s past to life in memorabilia displayed in period homes, in movies of early expeditions and in storyboards about the fascination and lure of this unique mountain!  After Larry’s annual KMA meeting, we enjoyed dinner at Grampi’s pizza also recommended by Rick Steves!
