Before leaving Galway, we took a last walk around the city, visiting Eyre Square and the Spanish Arch!  It took about 1.5 hours to drive to our next destination of Tullamore and our hotel, Bridge Street House, a grand hotel and spa in the center of the city!  We laundered our clothes while we ate lunch and then drove to Birr for a self-guided tour of the Birr Castle, most known for its innovations in science!  In 1845, the third Earl of Rosse oversaw the construction of a giant telescope, known to be the biggest in the world for 70 years!  Very impressive!  The grounds were lush and beautifully forested!  Upon returning to the hotel, we took a swim, steam & sauna at the hotel spa!  We had a lovely dinner at the Brewery Tap!

  Monday, June 19th Even though our flights were slightly delayed, we arrived on-time at a little after 10 am!    Luckily by the time we went through customs & taxied to our hotel (Wren Urban Nest, Dublin’s most sustainable place to stay) in the Temple Bar area, we were able to check-in early and take a much-needed nap!    Once refreshed, we walked along side the River Liffey to the Jeanie Johnston, a typical ship emigrants during the Potato Famine took to sail across the Atlantic, to stretch our legs and start familiarizing ourselves with the city, home to Bono, James Joyce & Guinness!    We sauntered down Grafton Street, a pedestrian friendly zone, had a flight at the Irish Whiskey Museum & popped into The Temple Bar for a pint!    We enjoyed our dinner in the homey ambiance of the Shack Restaurant across the street from the Bar!    By the end of the day, we were convinced our taxi driver was right…Ireland has been ove...
